Voice-Coil motor Spring head for pick and place (VCS)

Voice coil motor precision head--- The VCS module is an excellent force control device for pick and place of thin chip. A voice coil motor (VCM) is employed to achieve low moving mass and excellent force accuracy. There are two types of configurations, namely, the round tube type and the rectangular block type. The rectangular type, newly developed, has lower overall mass and no rotational free-play of the pick-up air tube which is provided as a whole by the customer and fixed by two set screws. The round tube type is obsolete now, and only for old customer for backward compatibility. Please select rectangular block type for higher performance and lower price.

The linear power stage is employed to replace the conventional PWM power stage for minimize the force disturbance due to current ripple. Force is controlled thru an analog signal of +-5V with respect to the +- maximal force, so that the mass of moving mass can be balanced by a minus force and result in zero output force.

Customer can request integrated position control option, which eliminates the need of an extra Z axis to control touch-down. We employ a reflective type of photo-coupler as the position feedback device to achieve the accuracy of 0.2% effective stroke for positioning. With our advanced driver, positioning, touch-down, and force control are achieved thru just 2 digital I/O's. The up-down positions, touch-down speed and force can be pre-programmed thru RS232. This successfully achieves the following two advantages. First, the touch-down action is locally controlled by the driver so that the expensive motion controller with DA channel is no longer needed. Second, the touch-down procedure can be accelerated because the latency due to OS for motion mode change is eliminated.

Effective stroke, user-specified hole diameter for mounting pick-up tube, and rated/maximal motor force all can be specified by the customer to achieve seamless integration into your machine design.
