Voice coil motor for semiconductor pick and place

Voice coil motor is quite suitable for vertical motion because of light moving weight. In addition, the single phase (DC) nature of this kind of motor makes it very easy for force control. Together with our drive VCP-03, a soft-landing operation can be controlled by one digital input signal to achieve more accurate force control and touch down speed. The other feature of our module is that a self-developed position sensor is employed to feedback position so that the high price optical encoder can be eliminated.

VCP03

This driver is used to drive all the voice coil modules. There are two kinds of soft-landing modes, namely direct mode and segmented mode. The operation can be triggered by one digital input so that the burden of motion controller can be reduced. Several digital output signals can be used to monitoring VCM status. All the digital input/outputs are optically isolated. Positioning command can use 2 digital inputs to select 4 positions, or use Pulse/Dir from motion controller. Registers can be read and written through RS-232 or RS-485 interface.
